What we see most
Most fridge faults fall into a handful of categories. Recognise anything?
Fridge no longer cooling
Compressor runs but it doesn't get cold. Usually a leak in the cooling circuit, a faulty thermostat or a blocked evaporator. We measure through it and repair or replace what's needed.
Ice build-up on the back wall
A thick layer of ice at the back almost always means the defrost system isn't working. That can be a broken defrost thermostat, a faulty heating element or a stuck flap.
Water on the floor or under the unit
Leaks are almost always caused by a blocked drain from the defrost tray. We clean it and check the hose. Sometimes the tray itself has a crack — you'll hear that too.
Strange noises or humming
A fridge should hum lightly, not tick or knock. Often it's the fan rubbing against ice, a loose pipe against the casing, or in the worst case the compressor itself.
Freezer not working or defrosting on its own
Combi units where only the freezer fails — we see this weekly. Usually a separate thermostat or a blocked airflow flap between fridge and freezer compartment.
